Hello from Canada,

I am a semi-amateur, semi-professional looking at buying a Pentax K7 to replace my old 35mm Pentax camera. But before spending the money, I would like to ascertain if the flash, wide-angle and zoom lenses I have from my previous 35mm camera would work fully or partially on the K7 as I had read:

My old 35mm camera is a Pentax SFXn
Flash: Pentax IAF-500FTZ
Long zoom lens: Pentax SMC-F 35-135mm
Wide-angle lens: Pentax SMC–FA 28mm

I sent a similar message this past summer to Pentax Canada after the K7 was released in July, I have still to get a reply.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum.

Your lenses are 100% compatible with the K-7, all exposure modes will work.

If your flash has the "auto-flash" mode, where the flash output is controlled by a sensor in the flash, that will work. So will manual flash mode.

TTL flash mode is not supported by the K-7, there is no TTL flash sensor in the current Pentax DSLR cameras. They use P-TTL, which your flash does not support.

Hi welcome to this forum,
hope you will enjoy it.
Like Ole said, your lenses are compatible, the rest I don't know but I am sure Ole knows what he's saying!
Have fun!

Many thanks to all those who took the time to respond from The USA, The Netherlands, and from "downunder"!. Extremely helpful. Now I have to make up my mind.

Cheers.
