Hello from South Africa

Hello all
Heard of this forum and knew I had to join.

I own three digital cameras : Minolta DiMage Z1; Minolta DiMage Z3 (which the husband dropped!); Panasonic FZ30. Had the fortune to shoot with a friend's Pentax *istD and was an instant convert!

Hopefully I will get the new K10D as soon as it is available in S.A. (promised date next week) and then I will be one extremely happy person.

I photograph my cats and kittens on a regular basis and have had a couple of photographs published in local publications. I am very proud of two cover pages, of which one is the December issue of All About Cats.

Hope to learn lots here.

Regards
Linn

Good to have you aboard Linn,
There is always room for converts here. I will be interested in seeing some of your cat Pictures posted ( My wife and I are host to three, since you never own a cat we kind of just wait on them hand and foot) always nice to have some good cat post. Hope to see some posted soon.

Good shooting.
Cheers: David

Thank you David :-)

I have quickly posted two Pentax *istDL photographs to my new Photobucket album
LinnCurrie - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The photograph with the kitten on the blue background was taken indoors with available natural light. Camera hand-held with one hand while waving a teaser want with the other. See why I need the image stabiliser :-))

The Christmas theme photograph was taken outdoor with natural light, no reflectors. Camera on tripod, hubby playing teaser wand assistant.

Both photographs taken at auto settings.

Regards
Linn

You don't need a stabiliser. I thought that shoot was exellent if you held the camera with one hand.

Cheers

Thanks Eddie :-)

That was one of my big concerns - can I handle the heavier SLR. I didn't know how easy I would manage it due to only having one hand available to focus and shoot; while trying to keep the kitten/cat in the area I wanted it; and then still waving the teaser wand with the other hand.

The person that invents "kitty butt glue" will be a millionnaire <LOL>

Welcome, Linn,

Nice to see some more women joining the forum (stops us getting too blokey). My wife and I used to be owned by cats, but sadly they're all underground now and cats are no longer welcome on this island for wildlife protection reasons. We miss 'em.
But I'm sure you take other photos, too. I look forward to seeing them (on a Pentax, of course!).

Hi Linn, you are too humble. I saw many winner shots from photographyvoice and you also taught many photogs there who acknowledge you as a photography teacher.

At least, I am sure I will have a lot to learn from you.
