Hello from Queens, New York.

Just saying hi to everyone.

I just bought a K100D today, and am loving it so far, but I'm still reading the owner's manual.

I'm moving up from my first digital, a Kodak P880, which is actually a pretty good camera.

I'm not new to photography, but neither am I a master.

I've been fooling around with it for almost 30 years, and previous gear includes a Penatx 6x7, Hasselblad and a Canon F1.

My main interest is female portraits.

I have to get some lithium AAs tomorrow.

Talk to you all soon.

Mike

'bet you have an impressive portfolio already. CRV3s are much better than NiMH.

Nice photography-related last name.

Thanks for the welcome, Kaimarx.

I've been lurking here for about a month, and everyone seems helpful and cheery.

That's what I like.

I have 2 portfolios: A 16x20 porfolio from the Hassy and Pentax 6x7, and an 8x10 from the Canon.

I haven't added anything to the 16x20 in about 10 years.

For about the last 7 years or so, I've been into a Robert Farber-type mode. Soft-focus portaits of women with tons of grain. I've been using Fuji 1600 color print film. One of my favorite lenses is an old 1980s Sima soft-focus lens. $35 and made out of plastic, but what images it turns out! Some tell me it's too soft, others say, "Oooohhhh, that's so nice," when they see the images. I guess it's a matter of taste.

Matthew, as for using the CRV3s, the K100Ds owner's manual recommends not using rechargeable CRV3s; do you know where I can get the non-rechargeable ones?

I looked at B&H, but only saw the rechargeable ones. Perhaps I missed them.

I'm going to see if I can find some lithium AAs today, since B&H and Adorama are closed until tomorrow.

Again, thanks for the welcome.

Talk to you all later.

Bokeh is our goal.

I just bought 2 non-rechargeable CRV3s for $15.58.

I thought I was going to have to go to a camera shop or Radio Shack for sure, but there they were in my local supermarket.
