Hello from rural New York

Hi all, I've just stumbled upon your great site. I just upgraded from the old ist DS to a new K-7. Pretty exciting, but I'm still trying to learn how to use it. this site seems to be great for that. I can't wait to see all your stuff. See ya!

Welcome to the forum!

"Rural New York" isn't very descriptive. Seeing as NY state is enormous, and the rural part is a vast majority of the state, you could be anywhere from Plattsburgh to Rochester to White Plains and innumerable places in between.

like 90% of New York state, like Vermont, like New Hampshire... lots of trees and farms, and mountains in the Adirondacks. Almost none of it looks like New York City.

I didn't know "rural" was such a mystery. I live in a small village near "Pratt's Hollow" - the exact geographic center of the state. Thanks for your welcomes.

(I can't get my little k-7 banner to show up in my signature)

I wouldn't call White Plains rural. Suburban, yes. Rural to me connotes countryside and at least one scenic view.

Welcome!

Below the place where you edit your signature, there's a dialog for uploading a picture. You can choose to upload one from either your hard drive or the web. Put the address of the image there, and then click the "Upload" button.

Once that's complete, your picture will be displayed within that dialog, along with a link immediately beside it that says "Insert Signature Picture". Clicking this link will add special tags to your signature that make the picture show up.

If recall correctly, Pratts Hollow was built by a guy who thought the rail road was going to come through because it was the geographic center of the state. But the rail road went to Oneida instead.
