Hi Everyone, My name is Peter and i have been a long time lurker on the forum. I had a SLR many years ago until it was stolen, since then i have just been using various P&S cameras but have always coveted a new DSLR. Due to time, finances and other interests i have only recently got around to getting my new toy.I was going to get a Canon but my researches( i research everything i buy) found the Pentax Kx. Pentax was always a popular and respected brand when i was younger so i did lots more research and decided that was the one for me. Over the past few months this forum has been a gold mine of information to me, so i thought it was time i joined.
I couldnt be happier with my new Kx, it is a brilliant camera for the price. I read about the battery problems and updated my firmware as soon as i got it. Bought some eneloops and havnt had a single problem. My Kx doesnt exhibit any of the blur problems some people report and i have tried several times to see if i can get it to produce the problem.
I have never owned or used another DSLR so i have no other reference to compare it to. So here is my take on some peoples complaints: Noisey shutter, maybe but it doesnt sound too noisey to me. Slow focus, mine seems to focus fast enough even in low light. Lack of AF indicators, doesnt bother me, some of my P&S has multiple points and what they indicated it was focusing on was not neccessarily what it did focus on.
Sorry for the long intro. I hope to enjoy being part of this great forum and gaining a lot more knowledge about photography.
