Hello from Tokyo

Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while and thought I'd finally write some words.

I'm totally new to the DSLR world, bought a white K-x with the 18-55mm kid lens and the 10-17mm Fisheye at the beginning of this year and now I'm already totally bitten by the camera bug. I since bought an old Pentax M 50mm F1.4 prime, which is slightly murky (fungus?) so I might try to disassemble and clean it. And I recently also got a Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD.

Still learning the ropes, but so far it's already been great fun.

Welcome! Glad to hear that you are having fun.

Although I am Japanese, I have never been to Japan (and I cannot speak, read, or write Japanese). Never the less I hope to travel to Japan next spring.

Maybe you can post a few pictures when you get a chance.

Is equipment in Japan usually cheaper than in western market?
Also do they usually have japanese only menus...

I think now that the Yen is quite strong against other currencies it's not that much cheaper (if anything at all) to shop here compared to overseas. Still, I paid about $ 450 for my white K-x with the 18-55m kit lens.

All electronics these days have language selections for the menus. But the included printed manual for my camera was Japanese only. Good thing you can download it in English.
