Greetings from Croatia!

Hello one, hello all!

I'm Tomo, from Croatia.
I have just recently bought my first SLR (K-x with 18-55 kit lens), and that's pretty much all I own right now.
Before that, I owned Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, which was a good camera for a beginner but after a time it started to annoy me to no end with its high noise pictures. I finally decided I needed something better roughly about the time when K-x was released. A friend recommended it, and it took quite a while before I got my hands on it (very high demand). However, it was a very good decision, I must say.
Right now I think I'm at the 'Dammit, I suck' stage (http://i.imgur.com/b2feF.png)

A friend suggested this forum as a good (and affordable!) way to buy some glass, but I do look forward to discussing finer points of digital imagery with you!

Have a look at my gallery, if you wish: huitzilopochtli on deviantART

Hi, Tomo!!! Welcome, and have a great time here!!!

That's the best thing about these forums--meeting people from so many different places. And seeing their photos from all of these different places is just INCREDIBLE!

For example, if it weren't for this web site, where would I go to see QUALITY photographs of Croatian street scenes? Or a hundred other countries?

I have the KX too, and a lot of old Pentax glass. I think the first old prime, manual lens that you want to buy, based on where you are, is the Helios 44-2 (58mm), or one of the other incarnations of this lens. I've only heard--and seen--great things from it.

If you're coming from a Panasonic Lumix, the K-x will certainly give the high noise quality that you are looking for. I hope you find all you need here at Pentax Forums!
