The insect on leaf macro is quite sharp, which is the trick here. I think some PP would bring out the detail more. If you notice with the ant shot the eye is drawn to the dirt to the right of the frame, since it is the most in focus. Even cropping that out would help.
I love lizards; the more of those I see the happier I am.

For the ant, I missed the main subject (that is, the ant itself) as I focused on the detailed dirt too...
Got a little serie of the crop workers, just getting time to group them.
