New K-x Owner

Greetings!

I just received my Pentax K-x yesterday - still studying the manual so I can learn how to do more than point-and-shoot with it.

Many years ago I took a basic b&w photography course from a local community college using a Pentax ME Super that my father had given me, and discovered that I had a reasonably good eye for photography. Regretfully, I long since sold the ME Super and haven't done a lot with photography since that time. I plan to change that with the K-x, even though I will need to relearn quite a bit.

Also would love to replace that ME Super at some point and will be browsing ebay for a good deal.

Greetings and welcome to the forums.

A replacement may be found in the marketplace on these forums, plus the feedback ratings are a big help. Other items you may want may be found there also.

I hope you find the K-x a joy to use.

Welcome to the forums!

If you remain interested in black and white photography, you might want to look into Silver Efex Pro at the website below:
Nik Software, Inc. | Welcome

Please note that the company offers demos and free lessons. More information about online instruction is available through the LEARN portion of the website. (See clickable area near the top of the company's home page.)

I have not used Silver Efex Pro, as I'm not yet back into b/w photography.

I have no relationship with Nik Software, other than owning one of its products.

Best wishes.

Thanks for the recommendation! I did love b&w and would love to do more with it. Silver Efex Pro is a touch out of my price range, especially right after buying the camera, but I'm bookmarking the site for later consideration.

Welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge here that will surely help you out. Since you just got your K-x I would suggest that you check out the DSLR section if you have any questions on your new camera. I hope to see some photos from you soon.

Welcome to PentaxForums! Whether your interest is dSLR & lenses, film photograph or digital, medium (6 x 7, 645, and 645D) format, subminiature (110), or collecting vintage bodies & glass (Spoties, Taks etc) or a combination of the above, you are at the right place. I'm looking forward to seeing some images.
