Hello from Texas!

I'm a total noob when it comes to DSLR cameras, although I have used 35mm slrs in the way-far back. I've been using the point an shoots for some time, and been wanting a pentax for a number of years. I ordered a K-x last week, and I am expecting it in in a couple days. I feels like a kid waiting for Santy Claus!

Welcome to PentaxForums! Everyone is a noob on some level and at some point. The the K-x is a nice camera. But whether your interest is dSLR & lenses, film or digital photography, medium (6 x 7, 645, and 645D) format, subminiature (110), or collecting vintage bodies & glass (Spoties, Taks etc) or a combination of the above, you are at the right place. I'm looking forward to seeing some images.

Welcome to the forums! When you get the K-x you will not be disappointed on its performance for the price. If you need any help I am sure some of the many k-x owners will be glad to help you out.

Hope to see you around,
Cory

Nod:

Send Clod.

(For the those of you who don't know what Clod is, it's a huge cut of the cow that's slow-smoked to deliver a piece of meat that's to die for.)

WELCOME!!! BEEF Q RULES!!!!

Welcome from another Texan with a shiny new K-x! Which lens kit did you opt for? I have the 55-300mm zoom with mine.

Howdy, Nod, and welcome.

Where are you in our lovely state? There are quite a few of us Lone Star Staters here. kcrady's sidebar mentions scenic Plugerville, which I think is down near Round Rock and Austin. I'm in Dallas now since 2003, before that was in Houston for a couple decades. Have a daughter in med school in San Antonio and another in law school in Lubbock. So we get around. Helluva big state. Lots to photograph. :-)

Hi! I got the kit with the 18-55 and 50-200 lenses. Enjoying the hell out of it! Still reading on the manual (and probally will be referencing it for some time). So many options available! I think I made the right choice.
