K-x newbie from NYC

Hello everyone! Just got myself my first DSRL (a K-x) after years of playing with the manual settings of my point-and-shoot. Hope to learn a lot from these forums in coming weeks

Luis

PS: One of my first pictures with the kit lenses. Nevermind the blurriness, I like the colour composition

1/2 second shutter speed at 300mm will do that

Enjoy your new K-x. I love mine and you will learn a LOT here! I know I have.

Hahaha, true... I'm having a really hard time using the 300mm without shaking the camera. I guess that means that it will have to be restricted to full daylight photography.

Hey KXuser, are you the one running the kxuser.com website? I read a lot of the stuff there when I was still deciding on getting the KX or not.

I am on the Upper East Side, btw. Maybe we should share some tips on local photography. nice to meet fellow new yorkers.

Yes Redseele, I run kxuser.com. Thanks for checking it out, and glad you went with the K-x. Welcome. Agree, there are some great places to take pics in NYC. So many though! There is cool street graffiti everywhere, and landmarks everywhere too. Anyways, welcome.

I dislike tripods, but a monopod can really help, too.
