Beeing a relatively new member I was quite enthusiastic taking part in the world-pentax-day-event for the first time. Realising my world-day-idea was a photogtaphical challenge for me and I spent a night to get my 360°-panorama with moving windsurfers together on a sphere, but it finally it worked.
Though taking part in the event ist "just for the honour" I was very happy to see the photo was often viewed and rated good.
But watching the progress of the event and the ratings on my and other photos and applying some simple arithmetics I got the impression that there seem to be contestors who use targetted downratings to get them forth and others back.
I wonder how those will behave in contests that go for prizes not for honour....

I just tried to upload a picture.

What software should I use to compress the picture to below 1MB and still retain the EXIF data?

When I tried Paint Shop Pro X it only left the compressed file save date (today) not the original shotting date (15th Aug).

Also can I now delete the picture I just uploaded and start again?

This is what I ended up with >> https://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/photo-put-put-cat-world-pentax-day-20901/

You can edit the photo here: Pentax Forums Home - Pentax User Photo Gallery - Access Denied and re-upload a different file.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it, though- just specify in the description what ahppened.

To answer your question- most people start complaining as soon as prizes are involved and not everyone is a winner

So what software should I use to crunch the photo's down to 1MB and still retain the original EXIF data?

Also is there a place where I can download the latest Pentax Photo Browser software?

I noticed that my older version doesn't recognise the new WR lanes I bought.

I'm not sure; you should ask in the software forum.

Also, you should not be uploading in original dimensions, as you'll likely never get the photo under 1Mb under those circumstances.

Adam, I have some film shots on the way back from Dwayne's but they were just mailed back to me today so I know they won't arrive before tomorrow night. This is Tri-X that I shot on Aug 15. Is there any kind of deadline exception for film shots from World Pentaxian Day since not all of us do our own processing and scanning? If not, I'll just post them in the regular gallery.

The event gallery will close tomorrow, so just upload them to a regular category and let me know- I'll then move the photos to the event gallery!

Thanks Adam. The weather and the light was so bad that day they may be like my digital shots...not worth a **&^. But I'll review them when they get back and upload anything worth viewing.
