How about making an annual "Photo Book" dedicated to this site and the photographers winning the different contests here?
Background:
Philzucker presented his first photobook recently, both here (
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/everything-else/850-making-photo-book-out....html#post6954) and at DPR. When I read the comments I thought it was a good idea and something I would like to try for myself one day when I have enough good pictures. So, I first had one whimsical suggestion in that thread. Then after having thought about it again I came up with the idea above.
How:
Once a year somebody edits a "Pentaxforums.com Annualy". It can be printed at any of the many availabale places offering this service for people wanting to make a photo book for their grandchildren and similar. It should be made in some "luxus" version, banded, sewed, fine paper and a stylish front.
The content: Winning pictures and other honourable pictures from our contests and challenges! Together with the picture the photographer should be offered to say something, I guess it ends up with a mixture of With word/Without words. 30-40 pictures (pages). One preface page.
Here we have to ask anyone for permission also of course.
Why: First: I would buy one and add to my photo book collection.
It would add a certain value to all other photo books as it is made up from non famous people, yet skilled, and showing anyone that "This sort of picture you can take with some practise and dedication".
Second: The price should be kept at a decent but not too low level. Any surplus should help with the site's bandwidth and hardware costs.
Third: It will be a good example for what can be done and I'm pretty sure many will buy it for both the content and the fun of having a book with pictures taken by virtual friends here.
Fourth: It would be very honourable to maybe once have a picture there, something that further can motivate us all.
Fifth: Perhaps it can add some extra value to be here, something that make us all take care of the forum even better.
When: During the spring (for people living down under that means autumn...)
There are a lot more to say about "How" and everything. I just present the idea here somewhat elaborated to give all you good folks here something to think about.
regards,
/Jonas
