Links directory?

Would any of you guys be interested in seeing a link directory here at PentaxForums.com?

You can demo the software that I have in mind here: Links Directory

Any member would be able to add links, and I'm thinking of having categories for personal blogs/pbases/galleries, photo resources, Pentax resources, and Pentax stores (no forums!). What do you think?

As this software isn't free, though, we'd have to wait for a few more donations to get it...

That would be a nice idea, but wouldn't a static link directory be satisfactory?

That wouldn't allow users to post their sites, but maybe you're right. We could also just use a standard submission form to manually update a static directory...

I think a static link site because, as you put this together, you should have some moderation of what goes into the links. That would cut down on a lot of links that go to commercial sites, unless of course, that is what you want. My two pennies.

Moderator approval would be required for all links before they are publically displayed

With this in mind, do you think it would work out?

Can't see how it would hurt, and has potential to be of great help to all.

Link director...

well, I'd rather be in favour of a "My threads" director.

Take care

Hi Paul,

You can find a list of all your threads on your profile page (https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/members/paul-cruchten.html), or keep track of favorites in your User CP or via e-mail with the thread subscription feature

OK if you have final approval then a links page could be handy.

I think it would be a great idea..... as long as it doesn't get used as a spam trap, when the site grows big.
Maybe a rating system from people who have checked out the link, that way spam likely would not creep its ugly head.

Looking forward to it if it is implimented

Just a few more donations and I'll be installing it

As I mentioned earlier, I (or one of the moderators) will have to approve each link submission manually. As for features, the directory'll have the standard lineup of comments, ratings, and favorites.
