This is common on many forums and is often used as a personal popularity tag - rather then the user giving the "like" actually reading the entire thread too see if the issue was resolved.

I look as these as as just another tag, not really helpful for the users here but good for the posters ego, which is always a nice bonus.

I think the only person who should be able to tag a post as a "like" is the one who has posed the question to which the person is replying.

I am giving you all likes here - just because I can, to show how misleading this is.

Thank you.

In what I'm quoting, I can't in any way agree w/your 1st assertion because this being a photography forum so many threads are "photo sharing" threads where others are encouraged to participate by posting their pictures; just one example of the many many forms of threads that get created that are not "questions" and shouldn't be limited to only the OP "liking".

And regarding the 2nd sentence, be careful w/abuse/mis-use of the likes/rep system. I've seen moderator action and demerits issued for far less...

I agree, Adam. The content of the post is much more valuable and relevant
than the reps of contributors. After all, the qualities of a contributor,
such as his or her incisive and intelligent critiques and of course the obvious
consistent great quality of many of our contributors' images gives them a glowing reputation that is self-evident
without anyone voting for them. So a bloated reputation number is nothing more than just that. The proof is in the pudding.
Man, I love this Pentax forums.com!-!

I have rarely seen strong moderation - good to know and this will make all the difference in my participation here - deciding to stick around. Maybe I have found a place. So far I like what I am seeing in responses to my posts, many thanks. Hope I can be of help.

There are no like links in the mobile skin. Is there a way to add them?

Make the tool obvious

OK I found it , the least I can say "it's not obvious". Can't you place the icone ThumbUp with the smilies or for example in each message, ready to be clic on. you won't get the result expected if people don't find the tool.

Just my two cents based on this experience.

Most members actually see a "like" text link, imo it couldn't really be in a more obvious place (and note that the first post here states its location), but since the feature isn't as useful as say the qr editor or multiquote, people are bound to ignore it or not notice it.
