The red X instead of photos ...

Help! Red "X" !

I hope this is the right place to post this:

I have a red "X" showing where either thumbnail images or some attachments are clicked (on this forum) or just plainly showing as the dreaded red "X".

This happened to me before, like three years ago, and never had further problems until now.
I can't remember what I was told to do to fix it.

Anyone?

Thanks,

JP

The only time I see that is if the link is dead or wrong or the browser is blocking the link.

Not all images stay there forever, unfortunately

It is doing the red "X" right now ... I just checked this thread which is very recent:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/130552-pentax-full...well-sort.html

and none of the images are showing ... just red "X's".

If the brwoser is blocking them, what would you suggest?

JP

I cannot see the image, it is still showing as a small box with the red x, and when I click on the link, it shows this garble:

)}^eUz=dVJ3d/k}:!44>0\ܓ?2J.oI<MO/;R'h$\`:`pa

and this goes on forever.

I did a virus check: all good.
I did a malware check: all good too.

So I am thinking that the browser (Internet Explorer) has become corrupted but I can't see how to fix it, if that is what the problem is.

Thanks.

Install Firefox. IE blows. It is probably somehow blocking Inline Images but the fact that you cannot even click the link and get the photo, IE doesn't know what to do with the file.

Yeah I suppose this would fix the problem but I had no such issue with this thread here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-5-forum/123731-no-more-tests-just-pictures-19.html

I'll try to delete/reinstall IE first.

Good luck. The only other thing I could think of (and I'm no expert) is that your firewall is blocking some images.

Can you see the one linked above? Also Pentaxforums album (m8o)

Well ... this is a real screw up.
I even tried to reset IE8 and the darn thing is still showing ... red X. (not for all images, as I mentioned earlier).

I am going to install Firefox and see if that makes a difference.

Talk soon.
