It might just be my eyes are getting worse, but I'm finding it difficult to make out some of the ratings in the lens and camera review listings, e.g. in the Pentax A Series Prime Lenses the numbers in the "Rating" column are hard to make out.

I understand the idea of using different colours to reflect the rating, but perhaps changing the style so it doesn't apply a shadow to the text would improve legibility?

I do experience the same problem. Some of the colours nearly do not show, as they offer the same luminance as the background. To properly read them, I must switch my browser to "colour off", as then it is grey on white background.
My eyes get a medical check every 9 months, so it is not me.

I agree the yellow is hard to read- if you have any better styling ideas (apart from color) then I'm open to them.

By the way, control+a is an easy way to read the text, as it hets highlighted.

Thanks for the hint on select-all, it changes which colours blend with the background so those scores I couldn't make out do become easier to read.

Since you asked for ideas ... perhaps apply the colour coding to a small image used as a background, with the score in black type on top ... such as:

I think I'll go with it. It's a very easy change from a technical viewpoint and will affect the ratings site-wide.
