K10D Flash

I have noted that some dont like the double flash on this camera. Is there a way to stop it from doing it and why does it do it.

Nowadays, almost all digital cameras do this - a first low power "pre-flash" is used to check the exposure, then the flash power is set and fired with shutter release. (P-TTL)

I myself have experienced zero problem with this system, I don't get blinkies at all. But apparently some people (or animal) have very sensitive eye and may blink after the first pre-flash.

You cannot stop this as long as you use P-TTL. With an external flash, you can elect to use Auto mode or manual mode to avoid the pre-flash. I personally have not seen the need to do this.
