Chat room ?

Would a "chat room" be an interesting feature on Pentax Forum ?

I just thought that it might be great for "live discussions", on anything photography of course.

Sort of defeats the purpose of a forum. We used to have one, but nobody used it!

Thanks!

Just wanted to know if that was a good idea ... obviously not!

Cheers.

I've participated in and run many types of discussion areas since ~1980. This forum format is my favourite because it allows time for thoughtful+researched replies (unlike chatrooms) and for easy reviewing of the discussion context (unlike email lists). Chatrooms are OK for thoughtless rants and lurid come-ons and idle gossip. We hopefully don't need those here. There's always 4chan, eh?

hate to bring up an old topic but I thought I'd mention that if you take a look at Terra Forums Carnivorous Plant Discussions - Powered by vBulletin (a carnivorous plant forum) they actually have a chat thats only available to members(have to be logged in to see) and just has one room that sits on the main page of the forums. People dont have to use it but I find that surprisingly alot of people do. I think it does make for interesting conversations and more member networking through real time interactions.

This will be a feature that we'll explore on our upcoming website, camera-enthusiast.com.

That's a very interesting idea.
I've just joined the site in question last evening ... looks promising.
