Questions about photos posted here

I noticed on a photo I posted here, morning on the lake, that the details in the shadows don't show up near as well as they do on the same photo posted on another site. Anyone else notice this with their photos?

This is typical for just about any site...facebook, etc. Usually its because the photo is resized, resampled, or modified by the site to conform to the site image standards. Basically, the picture you see there is not always the picture you uploaded. One solution is to find out what a site's image restriction is...to avoid your picture being modified too heavily. Another solution is to just link it in, which is what I usually do.

If you upload within limits your photos won't be altered- but anything above the limit will result in some pretty heavy compression to save space.

One exception to this rule is our user photo gallery, which has no resolution limit.
