PF Facebook App

We've recently launched a PentaxForums.com Facebook App through which you can browse and post on our forum securely and straight from Facebook. The app arguably provides a better overview of what's new, though it doesn't integrate with the lens reviews or homepage. It also allows you to take advantage of the secure HTTPS protocol.

The app is linked to from our Facebook page, so be sure to Like the page if you're current a Facebook user to gain access to the app and our great news feed.

Click on the image to view the app!

Enjoy!

P.S. I know there are lots of Facebook haters out there, but if you're one of them, please go ahead and disregard this thread rather than making fun of the idea ;P

I don't exactly hate facebook, it just seems irrelevant.
Why would I want to do this?
What are the advantages?

It's just another way to browsing the site, just like Tapatalk and the mobile site.

Much as I appreciate the occasional, significant PF post in Facebook, a half-dozen "come look at us" posts per day strikes me as excessive and unwelcome.
Please, can you introduce some granularity (the ability to get everything, or only the Big Deal posts), or cut back? Or advise me to unlike the forum on Facebook.
Cheers.

Your hijacking of my FB app thread strikes me as unwelcome

Jk, but in all seriousness, we're just trying to keep our fans on top of things, as most people don't know about a quarter of the stuff that goes on here every day. If you're not one of them, you won't hurt us by un-liking the page.

Facebook might be irrelevant to you, but the real issue is that if you're not on Facebook YOU become irrelevant to the world.

I don't like FB, but it's a behemoth force and it's turned itself into a complete internet platform rather than just some social network or website. Facebook's goal is to get you to go to facebook.com and never have to leave. The moment-to-moment doings and thoughts of your friends and obscure acquaintances aren't really enough content on their own for FB to accomplish this goal, so over the years they have strongly pushed for complete integration of the wider internet within their own doors. Case in point: you used to be able to share links to cool things, but nowadays any URL you drop into facebook will generate preview images, text snippets, entire videos, etc., that can all be viewed and interacted with without ever leaving facebook behind. Which is exactly what they want: the full content of the internet without anyone stepping outside the range of their in-house data mining and advertising spheres of influence.

And it's working wonderfully for them. Basically nowadays if you want to have a strong internet presence you have to present yourself on the FB platform. You can do this by adding "Like" buttons to your site, so that you get exposure through any "Like"-ers' contact lists; but this is kind of a passive approach. Integration with a FB app is better, even though I too will not use it.

The more things change the more they stay the same, story of my life.

Seriously, thanks for a provoking reply.
