why can't we follow links to expired marketplace

This was a link that was posted in a recent thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/expired-listings/162990-service-expired-v...-35-135mm.html

Following this link, I get
QuoteQuote:
Dear sterretje, you do not have permission to access this page or feature.

This could be due to one of several reasons:
  • You are trying to post an item for sale in the Marketplace, and do not meet the conditions to do so. Click here to donate and gain access! You must either be a Pentaxian or Site Supporter to use the Marketplace.
  • If you just registered, your account may still be awaiting e-mail conformation; you may not post until you click the activation link e-mailed to you following registration.
  • You are trying to make a post in a locked thread or administrative forum.
  • Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  • If using the Marketplace feedback system, are you accidentally trying to leave feedback for yourself?

I guess the 4th bullet point applies but it does not quite make sense not to be able to view expired items. Any explanation why it is like this?

PS site supporters also seem to get the message

Because expired listings are no longer available- you can only views the sold items section.

Thanks.

If that's the case, can you remove the link to 'expired listings' in 'marketplace archives' on the main forum page?

The only reason it's there is so members can see their own listings, for reference. Otherwise it would be a good idea to get rid of it.

Thanks again. Problem is that a member posts the link to an expired listing and nobody can follow it
