Carl Zeiss Lens Database

I've just added a dedicated Zeiss section to our lens database. You can add lenses (if any are missing) or post reviews here:

Carl Zeiss Lenses for Pentax: Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Zeiss produces some of the sharpest lenses out there- they are all prime, fast, and manual focus. Five are still in production (25mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm):

Adam: I believe that although the 100 makro is still in production, it's only available in Canikon mounts. To get a K-mount you have to order from overseas, at about $2400 plus shipping (OUCH!!!).

Thanks Adam, now if only Zeiss/Cosina would start up K mount production again...I predict they will by the end of next year (when our new rockin' FF comes out and there is an upswing in potential ZK customers).

As a side note, I have the ZK35/2, and it is practically perfect. You can really see the micro-contrast that Zeiss promotes. 10/10 for sure - time to post a review in the new Zeiss review section.

Are they officially out of production? I know that voigtlander decided to stop making PK lenses, but didn't think that Zeiss did as well. From the B&H page, it looks like they are still around!

When I bought my ZK-35 last year (now sold), I was under the impression that Zeiss was no longer producing new lenses in K-mount, but there may be existing stock for a while. Possibly something's changed, but not that I've heard.

Small point: Zeiss did produce some zooms. Maybe not for Pentax, though. I just ordered a Contax 28-85 made by Zeiss.

EDIT: HERE

Yup, the announcement came out about a year ago, I saw it first on the forum - I'd look it up but I'm on my cell phone. The Zeiss 35/1.4 came out recently in all typical mounts but Pentax, solidifying their stance. Thankfully for us, the f/1.4 in many ways is outclassed by our f/2 version.

Hopefully they start making them again once Pentax gets some more market share....
