is there any way of replacing an attached image with a more memory efficient version of the same image, when I first started posting photos I posted quite a few @100% jpeg compression thinking they would be best quality, some images being over 600Kb. I've since realized that 90% compression which reduces the file size to 80-100Kb looks exactly the same in the size format on the forum. I'd prefer not to delete the pictures, but would like to replace the attachments with a reduced file size (90% compression) image as I'm out of attachment memory allocation. I could probably claw back about 30-40% of my 50Mb allocation. The obvious answer is to "donate to increase your Memory Allocation" which I did, but apparently $35 does not get any more allocation! - not that I mind that much, I'm happy to support the site anyway, I just find it a little misleading. So back to my question, Is there any way to replace the attachments?

If you go in and edit a post, you can delete and then re-upload the same photo. You can also manage your attachments here:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/profile.php?do=editattachments

This will break old links if you linked to your attachment from outside the thread, though.

thanks Adam, I couldn't see a way to do it because I wasn't in Advanced edit mode, not to sure about "manage attachments", I can't see any way to upload from that page. In any event problem solved with the first method.

cheers
