Error Quote and Quick reply error in threads ... just me?

Maybe it's just me (again):

When I go to a thread and I want to post a simple "Quick reply", I end up with a full "Quote" instead.

I even had a couple of instances where I would post using a "Quote" and the said quote includes a different post.

Just did a "quick reply" a few minutes ago, and I ended up again with a "quote" .

Why is this happening?

Uncheck the quote checkbox in the QR area (it is now checked by default), or simply don't press the QR button before typing your reply.

Which "QR area" is that ?

Edit: just did a "quick reply" and got the "quote" again ... see post I just "posted".

And I just did a quick reply without any quotes: simply start typing and post submit the reply without hitting any other buttons.

OK I'm going to try this, I've had the same issue. Saw the Quote Message button, but it was greyed out. Now that I'm actually trying to use it, it's not greyed out, I'm hoping this will stick.

Guess I clicked it by accident at some point, I've never had any trouble before, just suddenly started happening. Hadn't tried unchecking it, since before trying to do a Quick Reply it's greyed out. Didn't know I would then have the option if I did click the Quick Reply button. Got tired of unwanted quotes after a couple of times, stopped using it at all.

So - If you're having this problem, and see the "Quote message in reply" check box greyed out, before you click "Quick Reply" button, go ahead and try it, it seems you have to be actually using Quick Reply to be able to uncheck that option. I didn't try before, since the box was checked and greyed out before clicking Quick Reply.

If I don't come back and say it didn't work...I don't know, I'm just now trying it. I haven't used Quick Reply in 2 or 3 weeks since this started happening.

Edit - OK cool, it did work. No quote...that's a relief...

Just never press the "quick reply" button and you won't get the quote. If you do press it, then it defaults to a quote because that's what most users will expect to happen, but you can always click it and uncheck the checkbox.
