How to ensure a safe purchase

I'm new here and would like to buy a lens listed in the marketplace.

What are the best practices for ensuring I don't lose my money to fraud? I assume PayPal offers a degree of protection. Are there any other things I should do to make an out-of-country purchase safer?

Thanks.

Paypal does offer protection. You can also look at the seller's past deals to see how many items they have sold and what otheres have rated those sales.

I've bought and sold dozens of items here with no problem............all thru PayPal

I do a quick check to see how long the person has been on this forum and how many feedbacks they have....

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know I could check a seller's history. I'll do that and put my faith in PayPal.

Make sure it is standard PayPal and not PayPal Gift for your payment. PayPal Gift charges no fees but offers no protection.

You check the sellers/buyers history here at Pentax Forum by looking at their "Feedback" history............
