User can get two notifications for a single event - 1) New Subscribe Threads, 2) Quoted. Ideally, both the notifications should be cleared when user clicks on either notification and opens the post. However, only one notification gets cleared whichever was clicked by the user.

Also, in general, do you think any notification associated with the post should be cleared automatically when the user opens the post, irrespective of whether the user clicked on notifications or not?

The subscribed thread notification should automatically clear whenever the thread is opened, after you refresh the page. I've just updated the quoted notifications to do the same (assuming you're on the page with the quoted posts).
