Has anyone noticed that since 2-4 weeks, all notifications are removed when a forum is marked read?

Or maybe it's only me?

I've not noticed that. I have noticed that I can get multiple notifications if I am spending time with an answer.

That's how it is by design, as the notifications system just checks for unread threads.

If I read a PM or if I mark a forum read, the notifications mark 0 unread but my CP shows me 5-6 unread subscribed thread. This is new behavior since maybe a month...

For example I'll mark the Rumours forum read and when I come back to the CP, all notifications are gone even if for example they are in the K-3 forums.

That's how it's supposed to work, and, as far as I know, how it's always been. If a thread is marked as read then the notification for it won't be shown.

But, if you think something is broken, please describe the steps needed to reproduce the issue and will look into it.

Thanks for the detailed file- that definitely helped

I looked into the system and it turns out it was treating marking a single forum as read in the same way as marking the whole site read, which is why all your subscribed thread notifications were vanishing.

I've made some changes and now the system shouldn't clear all your notificatins when you only mark a single forum as read. It should still clear the notifications from that forum, but I'm not 100% sure if it will the way it is currently implemented. So, if you could test this the next time you mark a forum read that contains new subscribed threads, I'd appreciate it

I had been noticing this problem for a while, as when I'd mark the Marketplace forum as read, it would clear all my notifications. From my one test just now the behavior has been fixed.

Good question. I don't typically have any notifications for that section (or very few). I'll keep that in mind the next time I want to clear the section.

Ok, just tried it in the photo sharing section where I do have a lot of notifications, and it seems like it doesn't clear out the notifications even when I marked the thread as read.

I just looked at the code and it should actually be factoring in forum read times into account. So my theory is that when you click on the mark forum read link/button, the notification count isn't being recalculated.

I've forced it to be recalculated so hopefully this should do it, but let me put up a few test threads to verify.
