Multiquote problems

I used the multi-quote feature for the first time in the Film SLR forum last night. It seemed to work well. All the posts I wanted to quote appeared in my post. sometime later, I replied to another post but that ended up being stuck on the end of my original post. I deleted the unwanted bit. Tonight, I replied (single quote) to a post on the same forum. Great.... it posted normally and didn't append itself to the post I had problems with the previous evening. Then I replied to another post and it appended itself to the post I'd just made a few minutes ago.

Having used Multiquote last night, I can't get it to turn off. Any ideas?

Had anyone else posted after your firs post? If you make a post, then make a second post before someone else does, the system appends your first post rather than creating two posts.

No one had posted after my first post. Same for tonight. I've never noticed this happening before. I'm sure I used to be able to reply to many posts in a particular thread and they all appeared as separate posts

Just testing that theory now.

I think you're confusing the multiquite feature with automatic most merging. If you make consecutive replies to the same thread within 1 hour, they will all be merged into a single post. But after that time or if someone else replies, your new reply will be in a separate post. All of this is irrespective of how many posts are quoted.

BTW, the easiest way to quote multiple posts is simply to highlight the text you'd like to quote. After doing so, a context menu will appear allowing you to insert the quote into the quick reply editor.

In addition to the marketplace, where it's been for several years.
