I'm about to buy an item from a seller with no marketplace feedback. How does it work if the seller is not perfectly honest with his listing and refuses a refund?

Make sure you use a payment service that provides buyer protection e.g. PayPal). If something isn't right you can then file a complaint with the payment service.

To add to the excellent advice Jim offered, you can also ask for detailed pictures of the item. If you want to be really safe, make sure the pictures include something identifiable like a newspaper with today's date to insure the photos weren't hijacked from someone else.

Before you buy look around at their posts. Has the seller been around for a while? Are they a participating member? Some people on here just don't sell much at first. A new member I wouldn't, but someone who's been here for years? I might be more inclined to buy.
