Content Warning System

It would be nice to have a a simple "show/hide image" command that can be set by the poster as well as other members viewing that said image. Basically a content warning system that would display simple text describing images that might be off-putting to some users and allowing users to either proceed and display the image or ignore it.

Potential image topics that would be hidden by default:

Spiders, cockroaches, worms, etc.
Snakes
Super macro shots of bugs?

Just a suggestion.

Unless you're looking at a long thread like a lens club, the thread thumbnail and/or title/prefix should give you a good idea of the content within. Most spider pics are either in the macro forum or have the "macro" prefix.

Now you're just asking for someone to attach a picture of one of those critters here.
Problem I see is the image would have to include appropriate keywords in the exif data and not everyone adds keywords or does so consistently.

Actually, I like that idea! I love spiders and bugs and it could help me locate them quickly.....just as Otis uses NSFW to locate "Artsy" photos...Otis loves Artsy photos!

Perhaps if the bugs were wrapped tightly where they could do you no harm it would be more acceptable?

I see...that still leaves the problem with spiders......maybe if we just post "spider shadows" it will be less fearsome?

...or maybe a mix where they are partially obscured by their web and casting a shadow too?

Anything to help out here, I'm all for it! Meanwhile, if you run across any "Artsy" stuff, be sure to PM "Otis Squirrel"...he will most certainly appreciate it!

Best Regards!

I knew eventually somebody would post something like that in this thread. I'll bet no one is surprised at who it was.

When I read "content warning system", I thought this was going to be about NSFW posts, not insects.

'Trigger Warnings' on PF?

Oh Dear. The World has truly ended.

OTOH I could get behind a Post Blocker to prevent cat photos from uploading.
