I know it is possible to like a post and send a PM at the same time from the thread to say, for example which photo in a series is most appealing.

How do you do that?

I think I have done it once and I have seen such a comment but I just can't see how to do it just now.

I'm not sure about a PM, but one can add a comment to a Like by right clicking on the Like thumb icon to "Open link in new tab". From there, a comment can be left which will be visible under the "Liked Posts" heading on the recipient's profile page.

It's one of my favorite features on this forum and I hope it never goes away!

My mistake on the PM front

So that’s how it works. The Like comment default went away a while ago but recently I had one in my Feed. I wondered how that happened.

I agree, it's the most straightforward thing to do. Either a reply - if everyone can benefit from it - or a PM - if it's best kept private.

Adam, don't take it away!.
It's main use is in reading through the lens club pages. You can't comment on an image on page 56 when the thread is up to page 560😀.
A note worthy image would get past up.
Also, the member might not be very active at the time and so will see it on returning.

A solution to this is in the works. The gallery view that works in the post your photos section will soon support those large club threads.

The idea is that we'll replace the full page popup with the same box used in the PYP forum. The main challenge is tracking posts you've already replied to.
