Why inconsistant number of members

Near the bottom of the Pentaxforums Forum Home page its says "79,261 members".
Near the top of the same page it says "60,000+ Members and counting".

Mathematically that's of course not wrong.
But is there a special hidden sense in leaving that number lagging behind?

It's technically the truth.

I'd say the exact number is automatically changed with each new registration, and the top text is manually changed in the description, and it just hasn't been changed in a while. (I'm also not seeing the '60000+ members' =, wherever it is...)

Of course that's what I think, too.

But a difference of roughly 33% between these 2 numbers is a lot.
Is someone afraid the number of members could drop by 20000 within a short time, and force another modification?

Eventually they stopped changing the McDonald's sign
and settled on "BILLIONS AND BILLIONS SERVED"...

There are a lot of members who aren't currently active. Technically, if I didn't post again after today, I would still be a member and would be able to log back on at any point.

Not that that is the reason for the difference there, but I don't think either 60,000 plus or 79,261 is really accurate.
