What Is the Dynamic Range?

A thread I posted in yesterday titled What Is the Dynamic Range?, seems to have vanished.

There were a few answers all as far as I am aware relevant and good natured. So I was wondering why is is no longer here or have I somehow missed it

That OP turned out to be a spammer, Tony, so the user was banned and the thread deleted...

Sorry Tony - It was me. I was in two minds whether to let it stay, but then I felt as the spammer was simply leading us all on, it was better to simply kill the discussion.
Cunning spammer this one was too - attempted to engage, seemingly sensibly before hitting us with his spam.
Certainly a "better" attempt at spamming than most!

I'm sure it was a tough call.

We look at a number of different things, Tony - some in isolation and others in combination. IP and e-mail addresses are checked against spam databases, we look for hidden links in posts, more obvious social media links in profiles, we search user names and e-mail addresses to see if they appear on other internet forums with similar posts, and a bunch of other things. Sometimes, they're obvious... other times, it can be quite a convoluted chain of searches that identifies them as spammers...
