annoying ad popping up occasionally

in the last few days, i have noticed an annoying ad widow randomly popping up when i navigate between threads on the forum, usually between the main forum page and sub forums (i.e. beginner and troubleshooting, off topics forums, etc...)

is this a new "feature" of pentax forums, or something in the browser settings that need changing?

I'm unable to reproduce your problem. Can you post a screenshot?

Ironically, this happened to me right now when opening this thread. It's a full screen popup ad covering the whole browser and you have to find the x to close it before you can see the thread. This on Chrome on Android. Nothing wrong with ads, they are a necessary evil to maintain this site, however this is quite intrusive and really degrades browsing experience here. It's certainly new, as I've not seen them before these past couple days where they now pop up every so often.

I thought Google was banning those full-page popups, but in looking just now I guess it's only Google ads that can't be those page-covering popups?

I run Ghostery so I really don't see ads anyway, or at least rarely do.

It also happens on safari, but it is not quite full screen.

It happened to me again too, also ironically opening this thread

I saw it as well. It must be something that Google recently added. Will find out!

Here's a screenshot, but I think the issue's well understood now (funnily popping up when opening this thread again).

We just recently got small ads in the centre of the screen popping up, whenever I enter this site. Only been here for the past week or so.

Nothing on Windows 10 with Edge, but then I'm running Adguard Adblocker and Malwarebytes in the browser.

I thought this new ad popping was something recently added by Adam, but apparently it is not intended. Good luck finding the source. My own experience is that it could be a viral code that inserted itself into the forum software.
