Compatibility matrix

Somewhere, probably in the knowledge base, it would be useful to have a compatibility matrix, or set of matricies, to show what features can be used with different combinations of lenses, bodies, flashes.

I don't know what the best presentation format could be, but we see over and over again questions like "will this lens work on my K10D?" etc.

Any thoughts?

We have that for bodies and lenses:

The Pentax Camera Lens Compatibility Chart

Including flashes is an intriquing idea; any volunteers?

not a bad start.

I notice a couple of areas where the information could be improved however,

For example, on the K10D line you should have a "note" beside M for manual mode, as the metering is innacurate,

Additionally for all DSLRs you should note the AV mode is only available at maximum apature, not really a full AV mode,

It would be useful to have M42 lenses also, abd M42 bodies, because as I understand it, there are at least 3 fundamental differences in M423 bodies.

Ones that only meter stopped down, ones that meter wide open, and stop the lens down to shoot, and then there are a few rare examples of M42 bodies with full auto exposure (AV mode)

I can see flash, and metering being added as either different columns under each lens, or perhaps a different color circle with a code inside it.

I downloaded your matrix and put it in a spreadsheat just to play a little.

If you added, for each group of cameras some sub-rows for the following

Exposure (where you could have Manual, Av, Tv, etc)
Apature control (Auto and Manual)
metering (where you could have Spot, CW and Matrix)
Internal flash (N/A if it did not exist, TTL, P-TTL or manual)
External flash (N/A if no hot shoe, TTL, P-TTL, Ready Indication, Auto, Manual)
Focus (AF MF)

I also note you seemed to have left out the K2DMD and in lenses the KF range

Thanks for your comments. I'll add what I can regarding missing K bodies and lenses but my knowledge of flash compatibility is somewhat limited and I need for someone else to step in.
