I guess "usual places" are quite in place for Pentax world photo. Something that is common for you might be quite interesting for someone on the other side of the world.

Exactly right! It's amazing what some people consider "ordinary" and "usual". I live in the S.F. Bay Area, so anything that involves the Golden Gate bridge would be considered "usual" for here, yet it would be interesting to a world-wide audience.

EXIF info? 3 day entry window? So this is only limited to Pentax DIGITAL cameras then?

I guess we're no longer Pentaxians if we shoot film...
Never mind. I went and bought a K10D for the event. Now, if I just remember to take the pictures...

Hi Adam, Almost everything looks really great except the size limit. I don't mean the physical 800 pixels along the longest side, I am referring to the 1mg file size. Most photos that are 800X532 and JPEG level 8 or higher are about 2.25 megs. I'd like to see the file size increased to 2.5mg or even 3 mg. But I need to say a big THANKS for hosting this!

NaCl(yeah, I know I'm a trouble maker)H2O
Not sure where you get that from.. most photos I size to 800 pixels never get more than 450kb. Some MIGHT get to 550kb in size, but that's insanely rare.

*EDIT* dangit, sorry, I'm late to this game.. and I usually don't post before reading all the responses. lol.

Ignore me.

Just took a look at many of the first entries from the earlier March 25th'ers.. and I must say, a lot of very diversified shooting going on. (although landscapes are, once again, dominating in an amazingly huge way).

I also noticed that a bunch of people can't seem to read simple rules. A lot of gigantically sized images. Wasn't it 800 pixels max or something? hehe.

Keep up the good work my fellows.. I'll be adding to the gallery in the evening of my March 25th.. (which technically is now, as it is 1:40am), so I have another oh... 20 hours to shoot and get something up.

I'll be shooting with the K10D *AND* my ist Ds. I'm going to throw the 50mm f/1.7 on the K10D and go to town. (The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 will stay on the DS)

Does Photoshop leave EXIF info intact? What about if someone (a hypothetical someone... certainly not ME), shot half the day just RAW, and the other half RAW+ JPEG but with an M lens? Thanks!

My Photos are up and all were taken on the 25th, 800x800 pixels at 150 DPI and JPEG'ed to 648K each.

Its not hard to limit the size of the photographs..

Yes. Just be sure to use "Save as..." instead of "Save for web". It will allow you to resize and edit your JPGs or RAW files and leave all EXIF information intact.

No you can still post. But the shot itself has to be taken on the 25th. I'm faily certain you have till Sunday April 1st to upload your photos.

Yup, the section will stay open for 4 more days, so feel free to upload your Pentaxium shots at any time.

I'll be sending out an e-mail notice on Saturday before the section closes.
