Forum Software Upgraded

Following last night's hardware upgrade and downtime, I've now also updated the forum software to vBulletin 3.8.1, a maintenance release. Please report any bugs that you may find!

For those of you who missed the other announcement or e-mail, our server has been upgraded from:

-2x Intel Xeon Dual-core 2.0Ghz "Clovertown" CPU
-2Gb RAM

to:

-2x Intel Xeon Quad-core 2.66Ghz "Harpertown" CPU
-4Gb RAM

This should result in a significant performance increase for the forum script! Enjoy!

Adam, I know this isn't the first upgrade. But it is the first upgrade which actually really improved the performance for me.

The felt speed now changed from slow to fast. Thanks a lot!

Yes, even the forum loading on my slow EEPC was a lot faster in loading pages.

Thanks for the hard work!

Yup. The first upgrade was from clustered to virtual (Oct '06), and the second from virtual to dedicated (Mar '08). This recent upgrade only improved the components in our current server; the site wasn't actually moved to a new machine .

I thought the last upgrade zipped things up drastically. But this one seemed to improve speed too. I'll be left in the dust at this rate.
Thanks for all you do Adam.
