Equipment Repair / Tech Specialist list

Is there a way to create and manage a listing of outside equipment technicians and repair specialists without:
  • implying endorsement by the Forum
  • controling entries in some way so that it doesn't become an advertising Forum
Such a resource would be a great help when a member really needs something repaired such as a classic lens, but there are obviously problems to consider.

Do you think we could adapt either the Links Database or Article System to accomodate this?

I think either would work, but the links database might be the better option.

I have a Viv 105/2.5 at Eric's to repair a broken aperture locking pin - parts of course unavailable. Through posts here and on two other Forums I found the lens repair specialist whose name I had forgotten. He emailed me a list of the lenses that can be cannibalized for the part - one is available now, problem soon to be solved.

That leads me to two ideas. The listing is the first. An article about the under-engineered pin on these awesome Vivitar/Kiron lenses is the second.

I could add a category for repair/service centers than, and the rest would be up to you. How does that sound?

That works. I was just in the Links database thinking about that solution.

I see no conflict of interest, bias or other spin in having a resource section/listings/database/etc. The only caveat being that it would need some moderation so that it doesn't become a spam dumping ground for every "Joe's & Flo's Camera Repair" that happens by. (no offense or actual reference to anyone named Joe and/or Flo, btw)

Nice

Is there any way to submit resources like this that don't have a website? I know - "What? No website and it's 2009?!??!!??"; but they exist. Just found out about a month ago that there's an old-school camera and lens repair shop here in town and she doesn't have any web presence nor desire for one.

Not into the links database, of course, but if this sections receives significant attention I'll accomodate that somehow.
