Here's a question...

How can one report a post when someone is on one's Ignore List?

Yes- just report the first post of the thread and specify the details in your message.

A lot of threads get derailed in GT, it's best not to bother reporting them.

FWIW, in another forum in which I participate, politics were made a separate subforum and taken out of the "anything goes" forum, and the political discussions were decreased dramatically with the content becoming less snarky and nasty.

This is a Pentax forum, not a political forum.

Yes well, your Pentax forum has a section called "Off-Brand (Canon, Nikon, etc.) Camera Talk" with, at the moment, a thread titled "Canon 5d II, 1Ds II, OR Nikon D700", and another one called "40d died, long live the 50d (bird pics)".

I'm wondering how this is on topic in a "Pentax" forum?

I think the question should be changed to "Have the Political Threads outstayed their welcome?" and I used to defend them.

Because it is in the offbrand forum.

Some of us talk about vintage stuff in there.

but if we did that where can i be so wrong all the time Thinks the politics threads are fine as long as they dont devolve to personal attacks on the posters once that happens then it should be stopped. As for heading off course heck thats the nature of conversations isnt it you start with one thing and sooner or later you end up somewhere completely diffrent its just human nature. ok im off to see whats in the marketplace

My point being, this is "PentaxForums", not "CanonForums" or "NikonForums".
The offbrand forum is as off topic as General Talk is.
I realize that this will probably tick off the Goderators, but they should really just leave GT alone and not stick their noses in it if they are prone to closing threads.

People come here because they either have a Pentax, Had a Pentax or at least appreciate the Pentax Brand.

Some people who have Pentax also carry other brands and some people who have Pentax are interested in buying another brand of Camera because Pentax does not offer a solution to their needs.

How is this as off topic as the hatred being shoveled in the General Talk forum? I could personally stand to see all the hateful media (CNN, Fox, Pentax Forums etc) take a step back... I heard a 10 year old playing war games in my neighborhood recently when he said "DIE IN PEACE BARACK OBAMA". Exactly how truly informed do you think that 10 year old was and where did he learn to shoulder such hatred towards the leader of his country. What makes you think that the kind of political discourse that goes on in political chat rooms is necessary, healthy or appropriate and why exactly does it need to happen on the Pentax Fourms?
