Don't like the new 'Ignore user' handling.

It used to be, that the ignored user's comments are hidden but the post and the name was still visible, now there is no indication of that post being ever made at all, which is very confusing. I think this change is a step backwards..............

Yay, someone noticed the change! This can go both ways, but I'm sure that if you forget all about who you ignored, you won't be worrying yourself as much.

Anyway, if a lot of people won't like this, we can always go back, as all it'll take is the removal of one line of code.

I was one to suggest the Ignored members not appear at all in the posts - I believe that's a good thing. It's the whole idea of using the tool. Only if they're quoted will you see their words pop up on a thread.

So what would happen if I turned General Talk back on but "Ignored" all the Posters?

With use it may become easy to handle, but at first it was very confusing when the quotes were coming from nowhere.

What would be really cool is that if the people on the ignore list couldn't see the person ignoring them either! The main feature I use the ignore list for and I only have 3 people on it, is the PM blocking. One of those people will never come off that list due to allegations regarding PM communications.

That's basically an admin-only feature at the moment, known as coventry. I may implement it later down the road for everyone.

Not so sure any more. Perhaps it would be better to have this like it is on most forums: you see who's posted and can see that message if you want to by clicking. Even though a certain member's posts would be rather ignored generally, in some particular thread one might still want to see what's up. Also sometimes this current system's a bit confusing when a thread shows as having new posts and then there's none visible.

I like this way of implementation of the "ignore user" feature. In fact it is how I always assumed the feature should work. If I add someone to the list, there is a reason and I don't want to know they even exist, or even better, have completely ceased to exist since being added to the list.

So, my vote is, well done, I like not seeing any posts other than quoted replies where, it has to be compromised or posts from other users might make no sense. Plus it's fun to read when others take someone, on your blocked list, to task for comments made...
