Login Page Display Setting

It appears the Login page now requires 1280x1024 pixels in order to view and click the Login button without scrolling to the right. Once logged in the Forum resets to 1024x768 pixels.

Was this intentional?

(I know, 1024x768 is so "last decade" but that's my preferred laptop resolution for the time being).

Is this because the buttons fill your entire screen width?

If not, I will have a look at why there is so much extra padding.
If yes, then fine. 1280x... is the resolution of 2010+

I guess I'll have to spill the beans early about this, but a slim version of each modern skin is coming out that will fit 1024 and even 800 pixel widths.

Reset display option to test and the buttons do not cover the entire bar. Login page forst sizes to 1024, then after a brief pause resizes to 1280 and the Login button moves off screen.

Once logged in most is just as it was, but the Thread Tools at the top of all threads also have a few pixels extra padding.

No biggie. I can get a new prescription and do 1280 since I have a "so 90's" 17" Sony CRT monitor (a very good monitor, if I may say so), which means the fonts ar truly tiny.

Santa brought my wife a 27" iMac, so if you (don't) change this I'll just have to plead.

I should have asked if the width of all the buttons combined is greater than 1024px. If so, then the stretching is to be expected. If not, then you may have some sort of display conflict where your browser thinks your screen is wider than it really is.

Also did you know that if you use ctrl + the scrollwheel, fonts are globally increased?

Don't sweat this one. Firefox 3.5.6, but still running WinNT (hey, it's stable and it has always worked until now <|;>)>--- ) Reset character encoding to Western ISO8859-1, but keeps kicking back to Unicode. Increaing font size is helpful - I had forgotten that one.

The reason there were problems with the width was that there were simply too many buttons.

I've removed the Marketplace button for guests and the forum should once again fit 1024x skins.

Thank you Adam. I like the way you have reorganized the Button Bar around the Forum (Home, Forums), core Pentax interests (legacy reviews and data on lenses and bodies), photography generally (Photos, articles), Marketplace and Search. Moving User functions to the User Box is an elegant way to make the interface clean and efficient while retaining all the fuinctionality when a User needs it.

I never see the Guest pages, but I assume they are even cleaner without some of the functions available!!.
