Originally posted by Lowell Goudge I agree with most of the comments here, there are a lot of clubs, with a lot of good points, and litterally hundreds of posts, with great reviews and data about different lenses.
I have to ask myself WHY are there so few lens reviews?
I was one of the proponents of the third party lens database, and have tried to keep up with reviews for each lens as I had aquired it, but there are lots of forum members that don't, yet they put the same info into the club.
This does not mean that the clubs could be redundant, if people filled out reviews, because there are lots of things that go into the clubs that don't belong in reviews, but that does not mean we should not post the relevant info into the database.
But I will get off the soap box now, and get back to the main issue at hand. where to put the club threads?
they need to some how to be separate from the lens forum, or as a sub forum of it perhaps.
that's my 2 cents worth
For me the joy of buying these old lenses and shooting with them is to find a diamond in the rough. It is very easy for a simpleton like myself to post a bunch of photos in a "club" thread that show what I like about a lens... even talk about it a bit.
Sadly english is my first language, but I do not have command of it... I got too much Okiespeak cloudin' up my tongue.
But the main reason I have not done lens Reviews is that I just don't think of myself as technically qualified enough. "I really like this lens" or "I like it better than _____ lens" is not a review.
My guess is there are many folks who do not think of themselves as a reviewer, but would happily post the photos they like from a lens in a "Club" thread, and go on and on about why they like it.
