No more lens clubs in the discussion thread

The camels back is broke... the dam has burst...
To quote the great Philosopher Popeye: "That's all I can stands I can't stands no more"

'The Cheap, Nasty, Inferior & Underrated Mother Of A Lens Club'
'The FA un-limited Club'

Coming Soon...

'The Vivitar re-branded as a Montgomery Wards Lens Club'
'The I Duct Taped My Canon Lens to My Pentax DSLR Club'
'The Helios 44M Club'
'The Mason Jar at the end of an extension tube club

Moderators, Adam, for the love of what was once sacred... it is time to move all of these Club threads into their own box! Take them out of Lens Discussion and stick them somewhere else. A Lens Club sub group... maybe in the Drop down box under the Lenses tab.

It is time... Lets put the "discussion" back in 'Pentax SLR Lens Discussion'

Nothing but love to all

Tongue firmly planted

I was kidding... The Lens Clubs are the 'Third Rail' for anyone wanting to be elected to any position in this forum.

But does anyone think it would make more sense to have them somewhere as a group where they dont get lost and are easily found... I believe they can be very helpful to folks looking for info and photos from lenses.

Just a thought and I ask your feedback

If you're serious Gus, this would be better discussed in Site Suggestions. I can move this thread if you want or you can start a new one.

I am in sympathy with Gus, both from the perspective of tongue in cheek and from the perspective of making the clubs more useful and accessible.

I still like seeing them show up the "todays posts" listing....

But they would still show up in the todays posts wouldn't they? I mean people will still be posting to them.

Gary move it if you think it has a better place. I stuck it here to get some feedback... but I kind of new there must be a better place.

Agree with Gus.
Subforum within Lens discussion section may be warranted.
And perhaps moderate new proposed clubs.

Ok... back from the gym.

I am serious, and hope that now the we have joked a bit about it that it can be discussed. And I was not outing the last two clubs anymore than any of the others. The cybaytan FA Un-Limited Club is a great example. Who knew there was not a FA Club? Maybe there was a variation of it back somewhere?

We must have some clubs like a fast 50 club with FA 50's in it. Maybe even a FA 50 club back in the day, who knows?

But I do know the Soviet Lenses Club has turned me on to some Lenses I now have or want. The Adaptal Club (I think there is one) has some lenses that I would like. The FA Limited club is a good place to go see what real folks do with those beauties.

When someone asks should I get a DA 40 or DA 70 for my Kx... beyond the discussion on size vs speed vs focal length bla bla... Being able to say go to the Pancake Limited Club and see what folks are doing with those lenses, would be a nice option.
In the end, these threads go hand and hand with our lens review forum IMO.

It has always been such a fun and helpful idea, that has gotten a bit out of control.

And I like Ash's idea of a bit of moderation on the creation of these threads.

We have clubs that sort of duplicate others and

Having these clubs into a separate area also makes sense to me. It would make them easier to find, especially since a lot of people keep referring to them and then you have to look them up.

Good thinking Gus, now where did that CZ club thread get to? I know it was there a while back but has kind of been buried by a heap of "I have all this money to spend but need everyone else out to confuse me with conflicting opinions" threads.

I guess newcomers will find the specialist discussions easier if the clubs are all together.

There's already a couple of clubs mentioned here that I haven't seen, so they must be little used and only found by searching?
It's a shame to waste information that is useful to someone.

I vote for a no more lens clubs club.

I will happily stand up and be counted, they drive me crazy .. nearly as much as people posting threads titled : what if, Can I?, which should I choose and all other non descriptive titles.

Happy new year.

Agree with you Gus! A separate subforum would clear up things a little. I like these clubs, for the same reason as you: they made me buying some good lenses . But for the sake of overview, I'd rather have them apart together !

The upside of the clubs: the ones that make it are sources of inspiration, enthusiasm, and plain fun.
The downside: often good info ends up buried on page 28 of 200. I'd prefer the real lens specific info in its own lens specific thread, easily searchable. But then, sometimes the info on a particular lens only comes out naturally in the context of a club.
