My office computer was formatted and today when I logged in the start page (pentaxforums.com) it still had the login side bar etc. that appears only to unregistered users. The page actually stayed unchanged as if I didn't log in yet I can view my profile and write posts obviously.

This type of situation is quite common if you frequently leave out the "www" in the forum URL. In the future, I will force the addition of the "www." prefix using an htaccess file.

Anyway, what likely happened is:

1. You logged in at a page that included "www." in its URL
2. You re-opened your browser and navigated to a page without the "www."
3. You then clicked on a thread or forum and the "www." prefix was automatically added to the URL. Thus, you appeared an were logged in on all subsequest pages because of the easlier login cookie, but you were not logged in on the starting page because of the URL difference.
