January, 2015 Winner: Alone With the Universe

Me and a friend went looking for a hut somewhere in the Pemberton area of BC, Canada. We could not find it, and we ended up having to camp outside. My friend decided to make camp within the trees, but I opted to camp out on a frozen lake. A middle-of-the-night bathroom break got me out of the tent, and before I got back in I realized the phenomenal sight I was witnessing. I sat for a while, just staring, when I decided I would try and capture the scene as best I could. My hope is that, with this photo, I am able to convey what I was feeling that night.

Nominate - I love the bright pool of light from the tent under that dark night sky full of stars. Beautiful & peaceful.

I LOVE this photograph. Aesthetically very appealing to me. Great mood. Serenity and spookiness at the same time. Awe. Lots of deep questions. The timeless present.

I would also have loved to be there, actually. ☺

Kudos, to my taste it's the best of 2014's best.
