May, 2015 Third Place: Serenity in the Sawtooths
Contest Number: 105 Contest Theme: Serenity Lens: 10-20 Camera: K5 Tripod Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F8

I'm so grateful I was able to go on a trip in the Sawtooths. This national forest is home to the 10,000+ peak, Mt. Heyburn (our main destination). We hiked to Bench Lake, where we camped and turned around due to heavy snowpack. But the stream that the trail parallels is absolutely gorgeous. Letting light fall through the top canopy like a painting. This is by far, my most serene photograph

A great slow shutter pic. I felt a small need to locate a figure to focus on at the sunlit shore that is being pointed to by the fallen branch on the left. But maybe that's the tension that this kind of scene resolves in the viewer. Accomplished color tones as well.

The long exposure makes the water ethereal and seem to float above the foreground, gives this a 3D appearance. Exposure and details are perfect. Great capture!

Serenity is just the word to describe this scene. The lighting, and flow of the water makes me want to be there myself. Great shot!
