K7 and CS2

Ok I'm confused, can Photoshop CS2 with the 3.7 acr update read dng's from the k7?

Or put another way - why wont cs2 with the 3.7 update open my dng's. it displays them as thumbnails, but wont open them. I get the message ...this version of Phtoshop does not supply the services required by this plugin module....

???

Everything I read suggests that CS2 reads .dng's, out of the box - no need for any updated raw files. But not this version. I am trying to improve my workflow (I started another thread here, ) I snagged a copy from a friend to see if how it works - well so far it doesn't. I can open other files and it sees .nef files from a Nikon D60, but it doesnt recognise .pef's or .dng's.

I would reinstall, but this old laptop is the only computer it will fully install on. I have tried installing on three other computers, but the CS installer installs everything but Photoshop. It looks like it is installing it, but after the installation Photoshop just doesnt exist, there are no no photoshop folders or files anywhere that I can find, weverything else is there, Bridge, Version Cue, Image ready etc etc - everything CS2 except Photoshop. Curious.

So I am reluctant to uninstall jsut in case it decides not to install on this comp as well. very odd.
