What is the PP feature called when......

you can make one area of the picture lighter, the other end darker, and have slider adjustments to alter the depth?

can i do this in aperture 3?
can i do this in lightroom?

i'll google the rest but i need a place to start and i can't think of the name righ now.

thanks

Shadow/highlight. I know that it's in Photoshop (except older versions of elements), and think that lightroom supports it as well.

Wait, when you say one end lighter/one end darker are you talking about actual sides of the image? Like make the left side dark and the right side light kind of thing? Like adding a graduated filter post maybe? Lightroom does that.

I have Photoshop Elements 4.
Under "Enhance" > Adjust Lighting" there is a choice of "Shadows/Highlights" or
"Brightness/Contrast".

I don't know if those options are absent in later editions.

It started in CS3 for PS - a very handy tool, quite distinct from brightness/contrast.

There is also a gradient layer with adjustable strength in Elements.

Ithink what you would be looking for in lightroom is a gradient filter

Went back and read the first post. Since he asked how to make one end light and one end dark, I believe he's looking for the gradient tool also.
