Topaz De-noise Aperture

I downloaded Topaz Denoise, but I can't see the plugin in Aperture. How do you set this up?

Place the plugin in Users -> "your user name" -> Library -> Application Support -> Aperture -> Plug-Ins

They don't make a plugin that will run directly in Lightroom or Aperture, only Photoshop. To used the Topaz suite in Aperture have to use another program called Fusion to call their plugins from those programs. Effectively you select it as an external editor like you would Photoshop. It's a free download and they have instructions on their website.

It seems not, it wins every single comparision review I've read, and it's the program that (I think) JohnBee uses with quite a bit of skill to get the incredible results on display in a couple of threads running at the moment.

The thing about Denoise, is where it is a totally different approach to NR.
And this often makes it hard for users to migrate to it from other systems.

PS. I never(almost never), remove chroma noise with Denoise(always ACR/LR) then Denoise luma afterward.

That's the one I have, but in every comparision I've seen Nik Dfine tends to come in last place (apart from Aperture native noise removal which really is completely hopeless).

Thanks for the tip. Im surprise that theres just a little chroma noise you remove in denoise. In LR3 i applied about 80 in luminance on a 25600 iso but still not as good as your 51200

Yes, and the main reason for this is where ACR and LR3 deal with chroma in RAW rather than at the composite level.
Which is why ACR/LR3 is so proficient at removing color noise with minimal affect on red and blue channels.
Though in some case, it may be necessary to preserve a color channel prior to NR.

I didnt encounter a chroma in LR3 and Topaz. When you said chroma are you referring to the overal strength on noise reduction.. and is that the same as the luminance on LR3?
